Misdemeanor Attorney in Scottsdale
Direct Defense for DUI, Vehicular & Drug Allegations
A misdemeanor DUI, vehicular crime, or drug charge requires close examination of the facts, forensic evidence, and police conduct. At The Koplow Law Firm, I personally evaluate these details and build a defense strategy tailored to the allegations against you.
I founded my firm in 2005 after working as a DUI prosecutor in the region’s Vehicular Crimes Unit. That background helps me assess how the state may approach a case, identify unsupported assumptions, and determine which factual or legal issues require further investigation.

Arizona Misdemeanor Classes & Potential Penalties
Arizona separates criminal offenses into felonies, misdemeanors, and petty offenses. Misdemeanors fall into three classes, with Class 1 carrying the most serious general misdemeanor exposure. The classification provides an initial measure of potential penalties, but it doesn’t tell the full story of a case.
The general maximum penalties for Arizona misdemeanor classes are:
- Class 1 misdemeanor: Up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500, plus applicable surcharges.
- Class 2 misdemeanor: Up to four months in jail and a fine of up to $750, plus applicable surcharges.
- Class 3 misdemeanor: Up to 30 days in jail and a fine of up to $500, plus applicable surcharges.
These figures are general statutory limits, not predictions about an individual case. The alleged offense, criminal history, case facts, and offense-specific laws can affect the possible consequences. Misdemeanor DUI charges require separate evaluation because Arizona law can impose mandatory minimum penalties beyond these general baselines.
Individualized Misdemeanor Defense in Scottsdale
When you hire me, I personally review your case and develop the defense strategy. You work directly with me rather than having the case handed to a junior associate or paralegal. This one-on-one structure allows me to understand your priorities and explain what each stage may involve.
My training includes DUI forensics, vehicular crimes, and complex drug cases. In a misdemeanor DUI case, forensic preparation may involve examining how evidence was collected, documented, maintained, and interpreted. Vehicular and drug allegations can also turn on technical evidence, witness accounts, police reports, or the legality of a search or seizure.
I approach every client without judgment. An allegation doesn’t define who you’re or replace a careful review of the evidence. My role as a misdemeanor lawyer is to protect your rights, provide clear guidance, and prepare a defense grounded in the facts of your case.

"It was miracle!"
It was miracle!... A lot of people don't really understand the benefit of having an attorney who used to be a prosecutor. They know all the little tricks and scare tactics the state has as opposed to just hiring an attorney who is a little fish in a big pond.
